A LETTER TO MINISTER CRAIG:
We would like to share a letter sent by PLB to Minister Steve Craig on August 22nd. The announcement of this hearing date today effectively is a rejection of our request stated in this letter. COOKE was not mandated to hold a public information session prior to this hearing date announcement and the ARB's call for Intervenor applications. KNOW that the rights of the community and stakeholders most directly impacted are being deliberately disregarded in this process.
The clock is now ticking for INTERVENORS who have 13 days to get their applications in. Please reach out to us if you'd like assistance completing it or need more information. Applications can be found online on the ARB website, under the "How to Participate" tab. https://arb.novascotia.ca/how-participate
We urge everyone concerned about this process’s disregard for the affected community to write Minister Craig and Premier Houston to voice your objections. Your rights to be informed by the proponent of their intended use of your public resource, Liverpool Bay, within a reasonable time frame of a public hearing deserves to be respected. One open house held in October 2018 followed by a 5 year hiatus is not acceptable.
Email your letter to:
Honourable Steve Craig
Minister, Nova Scotia Department
of Fisheries and Aquaculture
Premier Tim Houston
Jenna McKenna, Chair ARB
